Monocacy River Aqueduct

Monocacy River AqueductThere are eleven stone aqueducts along the canal. The longest and most admired is the Monocacy River Aqueduct. The aqueduct was built of white granite that was quarried on nearby Sugarloaf Mountain. The aqueduct spans 560 feet and is divided into 54-foot arches. It was constructed between 1829 and 1833.

Seneca Creek AqueductThe Seneca Creek Aqueduct is much smaller than the one over the Monocacy River. It spans only 114 feet and has three arches.
